Thread: Open Word documents

I have been working on opening 2 word documents from 2 different people which are only an issue on 1 of the 3 computers I have tried with. The documents have been saved in Word 97-2003 and I have also tried saving them in the newest format. None will work. I followed instructions on what to do when getting the error that it cannot open the document. 6 or 7 different things I tried. The last one was doing a installation repair of office 2010 . This made it so the document could be opened but then immediately Word crashed and now anytime that document is opened Word crash's or the same error messages pops up.

I would appreciate any ideas anyone might have.

This is probably not what you are looking for, but I have had issues in the past with different operating systems and the same version of office. This may or may not be the problem you are facing. If you having trouble with that specific document on that specific computer only then there is probably some sort of bug that is causing it to happen. If all Word documents don't open that computer then this would probably mean something more severe with the installation of office.

sorry its not much to go on, but as I said I have seen a similar issue before but with excel macros that work perfectly on Windows XP systems but not Vista even though both set of computers (multiple on each OS) are running Office 2007.

No this does not seem to help. Macro are more complicated than just a Word Document.
