(Sorry if this isn't posted in the right section) Right now I only have one column in excel. About half of the cells are formatted to the right, and half to left. It is very important that they stay like that. The thing is, this is a VERY large file: about 40,000 lines long. I have tried things like saving it to an htm file, but my browser just freezes if I try to copy the text. So basically, how do I get all these lines into word (or any kind of text file), with the justification in tact?
Also, I am on a mac, but I may have PC access if I need it.
Have you tried just copying the column in Excel amd pasting it into Word? You should get a single column table with the formatting preserved.
You could then, if you wish, convert the table to text and this should still retain the alignment.
Regards
Yes I'm sorry I should have added that I did try that. It didn't seem like it retained the justification, but I suppose when I get back home today I will try converting it into text and see if it will come back.
Edit: No, the justification is not in tact when I convert the table into text.
The only way I have seen the justification stay in tact so far is when I open the htm file in my browser. But my computer/ browser can't handle copying such a huge block of text.
Edit 2: Ok so I figured out how to do it. For anyone who cares, I opened the file in Numbers, then I split the file, and imported bits of it into Pages, which kept the formatting. Not sure why Excel/ Word wasn't working for me..
