I do everything in notepad and copy and paste to word for spell checking then back to notepad, but MSO word usually screws it up by changing things. Using 'MSO word' is like flying a commercial jet with 300 controls staring at you and the auto pilot is messing with you. Is there any way I can make it act like notepad (it aught to be that powerful) until I add functions as I need and learn them. In particular ...
[1] I would like it not to second guess me on anything. no unexpected chANGES IN FORMAT, SPELLING, CAPITALS ETC.
[2] I want to be able to toggle back & forth between word wrap or not just like in notepad.
[3] When I resize its window I want to see all the text just like in notepad in wrap mode.
[4] When I hit enter I want it to go to the next line, not 2 lines down.
If I could start there I would probably use it more, but as is its been a mess for me.
Attached is a document I have called Notepad. It is a .doc file.
The style created is called notepad - which mimics Notepad on my machine - font Courier size 8, Script Western with 142 columns when Notepad is maximised. Paragraph formatting is left.
This might be different on your machine as I am not sure whether this is dependent on the size of the monitor. This is why I have formatted it to a landscape page.
English UK language.
This might help you, but it is not clear why you are using just Notepad for spell checking when you have stated
You don't want it to second guess your spelling - there is no indication of where in the world you are the language you need to work in.
To switch between wordwrap or not you would have to change the paragraph alignment - probably to justified.
The paragraph spacing in the style has been set to no spacing in between.
If you use Notepad for a specific reason, then when it comes to the spelling you have a limited amount of choices, carry on as you are and note down the spelling errors and change them by hand, use the Oxford English Dictionary for words that you are unsure of.
If you use Notepad because you are unfamiliar with Word, then I would suggest looking at the Microsoft websites as they have very good tutorials or check out YouTube.com (I've learnt alot from both).
With a little bit more information of what you are trying to achieve and why gives and even your knowledge is a great starting block to be able to assist if possible.
Hope this helps.
