Word 2007 - How do I use columns properly?

I'm having trouble setting up exactly what I want to do.

I want to have a header/banner image at the top of each page that goes across the entire page, underneath the banner I want to have two columns to paste some tables into.

I can't seem to get this right and end up with everything out of line and weird breaks and stuff everywhere.

I don't know much about programming Word and I have experienced some dreadful times using it. In saying that, I have recently downloaded LaTeX, which is a document preparation program that is very similar to HTML. It uses tags to set up documents to the point where you have a lot of freedom and more importantly, control over the design of the document. If you have the time, give it a try or wait for someone here to help.

    Hi DarkSoul,
See if the attached works for you. I first made two tables and then grabbed the right edge of each and made them about half the page width. Then moved them side by side. Then found Table Positioning..

have you tried putting the image banner in to the header?

You can add images to headers in Word - I've done it to the attached using clip art...
