    help with a query

Hi Guys Ive come across a problem that is probably easy to sort but I cant work it .
I have a database with most of the info in one table .This is production figures ,scrap figures ,dates, machines used to produce parts ect.
I currently have queries returning production figures by part number ,production figures by machine number, production figures by date ,and also between dates and a good few other things as well. All pretty simple .
I would like to be able to enter the part number and the query to return the total parts made, total parts scrap and %scrap for different machines that part was made in so I can compare machines. All I have managed to do so far is produce a long list of the data. I want to add all the data for each machine and return the machine no. only once and add total parts made ,total parts scrap then work %.
    Hope that all made sence
I am still fairly new to access so this maybe real easy but I cant see it .
    Any help is always appreciated

    Re: help with a query

sounds like your data isn't normalised (google 'normalisation' if you don't know what this means). But in principle you need a 'group by' query - open a new query, select your table and click on the totals button in the ribbon (uses the greek epsilon character), drag the fields you want to report on to the query grid and select group by/sum/avg etc as required
