    General advice on connecting Excel to an Oracle Database

    I don't expect a hugely detailed answer here, hence the loose question. I just need a steer for now.

    In my new job I have to create a report every month that requires me to run some SQL against and Oracle DB, copy the data out into Excel, manipulate it into charts, then paste into Word. Way too many steps!

    I am fairly certain this can be done in a simpler way, something like this;

    > Set a date range in 2 cells

    > Run an SQL query using the dates given against an Oracle DB

    > Store the resulting data from the DB in an Excel Table

    I might consider a bit of VBA here if needs be, but it has been a long while since I did any of that.

    If someone could point me to some good reference sources, both online and in books I would be grateful. I could do with a decent book actually, but covering this SQL requirement would be fairly key.

    I am using Excel 2010.

    Thanks in anctipcation

    You don't have to add Rep if I have helped you out (but it would be nice), but please mark the thread as SOLVED if your issue is resolved.
