    Power Query Issue

    Hi,

While using Power Query on a table in excel to unpivot columns, i get this error when Close & Load to option is clicked on. error.JPG

"Initialization of Data Source Failed" As i am using a table in the same workbook but it wants to establish a link to external DB.

Please help me how to resolve/overcome this issue. Thanks !

To attach an Excel file to your post,
    • click Go Advanced,
    • scroll down until you see Manage Attachments,
    • click that and select Browse,
    • select your file and click Open,
    • click Upload and you will see your attachment below Upload Files from a website
    • click Close this window,
    • click Submit reply

After that you should see attachment in your post

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Not seeing the error here in Excel 2016. What exactly are you doing when the error message appears?

    Re: Power Query Issue

I know but I cant recreate problem

I deleted query table, deleted query and did again from table, unpivot, load to - it works (on your file)
    Sometimes MS is weird

Could you create the same from the same source table but delete query table and query first and let me know what will happen?

or try reinstall PQ for Ex2010 (maybe it will help)

    EDIT:
If you open my file you see the same error or everything is ok?

    or
create the same on brand new excel file - if it will show error like from post#1 - my advice - reinstall PQ

I am using Excel 2016 as well. I get this error at the end of the activity i.e. create data, convert it into a table, go to data tab > new Query > from table, now Unpivot the 12 MOnths columns, as in the end when i press teh Close & Load to option it gives this error.

I have used this table on other systems and this process works fine. I am unable to overcome this issue, kindly help in resolving, thanks !

All Ok with your file, because its the end result/final product.

this file works fine and delivers a quality DB after PQ operation on others' systems. I get this error on my machine only.
I am on Office 2016, it doesnt allow modification and reinstallation of any sorts

    Re: Power Query Issue

    so...

1st. update your profile about excel version
2nd. as you can see this is not a problem of PQ but Office installation [32/64 bit? maybe win is 32 but office 64 or vice versa? too many questions) (suggested reinstallation or Repair via CP - Program and features)

doo you have any other conections eg. like this?

    Re: Power Query Issue

NO external connection as i am creating a query and loading it in the same workbook's different sheets.

Look at the screen in this vid as well for the activity.

    Re: Power Query Issue

Yes i am getting the same error for all PQ activities on different files on my same system which run perfectly fine on other systems. Thinking of reinstalling the OS and MS packages altogether if there comes up no solution.
