    Access programing?

Not sure if this is the right spot but here it goes.

Somebody long time ago (who I can't get in contact with anymore) made a program called TaskX. What it did was it took a raw excel table, reorganized it and presented it in a clear easy to read fashion. TaskX is labeled as a access database but the thing is, it runs just like a program. As far as I can tell, I can't see what is under the hood. All it does is take one excel spreadsheet to pop out another.

Now for the question; How was this done? The making it act like a program part I mean. I want to learn how to do that to make other similar mini programs. I have no idea where to start looking and that is the biggest thing I am asking, where to look to learn.

I assume it was done as VBA code. Look in "Database Tools" ribbon menu, and find Visual Basic.
    It's likely housed there.

Though if it isn't doing anything with db. I'd recommend using either VBS (visual basic script) or VBA module in Excel itself.

    Re: Access programing?

The excel sheet you are supposed to feed it is from an ad hoc query from a website. The program not only made it into a color coded X,Y Table (is that a real term?) but even counted the amount of completed tasks each person have done and even counted the required tasks.

I thank you however, I do believe you are correct and what you pointed out is what I am looking for... although I now get the feeling it is a whole new can of worms that will take me a while to break down to understand.
