I'm completely new to the DB aspect of programming, but not to programming itself. I have an Excel .csv file that I want to import into MySQL. From what I understand, I need to create a table in MySQL first with all the column headings and data types that are contained in the .csv file. Once this empty table is created, I would like to populate it with the data in the .csv file. It looks like Excel has a feature called "MySQL for Excel" that can be used, but when I select it states that my DB connections will be migrated to use MySQL Workbench and I wasn't sure if that was something I wanted to do. If I wanted to write code to process the file, could it be done using vba or is a scripting language required? Most of the work I have done has been writing macros using vba, but have never had to associate it with a DB until now. Could someone help me with this process or suggest a site I could use for reference?
