Access Data Entry to Excel Form

    Hello all,

I have a request from one of my managers that I would like to see if you guys can help point me in the right direction of learning how to do this and get it to work. I have limited experience with SQL so I'm fumbling in the dark on this issue. I currently use a SQL database that we manually enter data points to underwrite applications into through access. I then take certain data points and manually enter them into an excel document that is a "Calculator" that gives me an output. My boss has requested a way that when I'm entering application data, I can click a hyper link that will then enter those data points into my excel document as opposed to manually entering those points. Does anyone know what I should be searching for when trying to get started? Or where I should begin looking in access to try and begin the process of building this? I know this is vague, but I am hoping that I've done an okay job of describing my desired output to at least begin this puzzle. Thank you in advance!

    -Jake

Without seeing your data it is difficult to determine your exact needs. However, this link may be a start that gets you in the right direction

Re: Access Data Entry to Excel Form

I appreciate the attempt to help. I'm going through the blog now. Unfortunately, much to my dismay, the data is all highly confidential, but essentially I work at a bank. We get applications in for merchants to accept credit card processing. We then enter the individual merchant information into access one at a time (annual volume, average ticket, future delivery, etc). We then manually enter those data points into an excel calculator that I built that uses Visa and mastercard data to assess a monetary risk to the bank for the merchant. We currently have a hyperlink in our access program that opens the calculator, but it does not enter the data into the calculator. I'm sure none of this means anything to you, but without being able to release an example I'm trying to paint as clear of a picture as possible. Thank you so much for your response!

Re: Access Data Entry to Excel Form

Once you have your data in your Access Table, build a query to extract the data you wish to have in Excel. You can then export the query to an Excel Spreadsheet. Instead of providing actual data to us, if you build a dummy Access DB showing the information you have in a table (all fictionlized and limited to 8-10 records). Then tell us which fields need to come into Excel and where, perhaps we can build that query for you and write some VBA to export it.
