From text to value

I am new with Access. I am trying to do calculations in Access query section. I get error and i think the problem is that i have numbers like 6.23 and the calculation thinks it is text. What should i do to make it work? I try to calculate 1/ Column A * Column B.

Check your underlying tables to determine how the data is stored. This would be in the properties section of the table. Open the table in Design View and see how the data is stored. If as text, then you will need to change it to one of the numeric options. Remember that Access does not operate in the same manner as Excel. It is a relational data base and not a spreadsheet.
