How to get column data to move with external data refresh

    Hi all.

I have a spreadsheet that has an external data connection to an Access database file. Every 5 minutes, it refreshes the data. I created a column to the right of this linked data. I wanted to have a drop down menu where the user could essentially list that particular row as "ready" or "not ready".

The problem I ran into is, when the data refreshes every 5 minutes, that data can get shifted to a new row, but the column I created to designate whether or not that particular row is "ready" or "not ready", does not move with the rest of the data.

Is there a way I can link the data so it moves as the data gets updated? the data it pulls is filtered for "today", so it changes constantly.

    Thanks.

so chances are the code to "shift the data to a new row" is probably set to copy a range, you'll just need to amend that code to grab the extra column

Re: How to get column data to move with external data refresh

I used the excel get data, linked the file, removed columns/data I did not need and imported it into the spreadsheet. refresh is set to 5 minutes. When I've done this before, I usually just set it for "insert cells for new data, delete unused cells", but for those spreadsheets, I don't have any extra columns, it's mainly just for viewing (I have the spreadsheets set to update data, save, and export as an html file for display on a large TV).
