Excel External Connection Dropping Password from Connection String?

I have several external connections that refresh frequently. Recently, when refreshing the connections, I started getting an Oracle login box that requests the password. When I verify the connection string, the password is no longer in the connection string even though I have Save Password checked. I can add it back but it soon drops again. I have found that if I export the connection files and save them to the data sources folder and check "Always use connection file", it will save the password but the login box still pops up with the username and password entered, requesting me to click "OK". This login box prevents the connections from refreshing without user intervention, stopping the refresh of other connections.

I have searched all over the web and forums with no luck. I have tried changing settings in the Trust Center, enabling all data connections and links. I tried setting Trusted locations. This also did not help. What am I missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated.
