I have a split database wih a back-end and an entry form. Entry form is not allowing edits

I have a split database - the table is in Backend. There is a Form with a combo box and two fields that link to backend.
Set it up, put the entry form on several computers on the network... it was working

Now suddenly the form no longer allows editing. Is there some Overall access setting that changes everything?

I went to the Properties of the form (once there was a problem) and Data/Data Entry is set to NO
When I change it to Yes and then open the form - the Detail section is suddenly not visible...

    Any ideas what is wrong?

Okay - I found out that if I set the Excel file's data to refresh at a certain interval or upon opening - that locks the Access Backend database for editing.
Which creates the problem with the front end.

So, is the ANY way to have my excel file with the Pivot Chart Open, Have it automatically refresh the data, BUT not lock the Backend DB?

    Fixed
In the Properties of the link - I set it to read only, so now it does not lock up the database. Give me enough time and I figure it out.
