Solve-Evaluate Formula for remaining principal amount

Hello, I'm taking a selftest on line and I can't solve the following:

Evaluate the formula for the remaining principal amount of the sixth month.

If someone knows how to solve this and needs the Excel real file letme know so that I can send it.

    Thank You

had to scroll down than select cell F16 click on Formula ribbon -> Formula Auditng Group -> Evaluate Formula and executed everything that had to be executed.

Re: Evaluate Formula for remaining principal amount

It's a .jpg so I only see what I see... the last column is the Remaining Principal Amount

You want to know what that should be at month 6... well it's the previous Remaining Amount minus the current Principal Paid.

Edit: There are also many function in Excel for calculating Amorization and Loan Payments. Look at the Financial group of Functions.

OK! then how would you answer the question:

Evaluate the formula for the remaining principal amount of the sixth month!

If for whatever reason, the self-test wants you to evaluate it without the table, try =FV(D4/12,6,F4,-D3). You'll get the same response with either formula, though.

Re: Evaluate Formula for remaining principal amount

Jack, you are going to have to be both more polite and clearer in your requests if you want our continued assistance. I'd have answered exactly how NBVC did if I'd have seen this first. If you don't mean, "What formula gives me the remaining principal at the end of six months?" then what do you mean by "evaluate"?

Those are only two screenshots and you still haven't explained what you mean by "evaluate". In words, not images, what is it that you are asking us for?

Re: Evaluate Formula for remaining principal amount

Sorry, but none of those help me understand what you mean by "evaluate". Does it mean it wants a verbal description (seems unlikely since you got an error message that appears to have been sent automatically)? Does it want simply the answer? Does it want either my or NBVC's formulas? Something else?

If anyone else reading this understands what I'm missing, feel free to chime in.

Re: Evaluate Formula for remaining principal amount

Sorry, Jack, but without an explanation of what the test is looking for, there's no way I can help you and I rather doubt anyone else will be able to, either. Best of luck finding the answer. If you can come back with a more detailed explanation, please post it and we'll try to answer your question.
