    Need help with chart

Hello all. I am trying to put together a chart in Excel and am not able to figure out how to do it. I want it to look like this IMG_6073.jpg with the data set below:

Please attach an Excel file with your data set, instead of a picture. Few people will want to type it all in. Then we can also implement a solution in the same file. See yellow banner at the top of the page.

    Re: Need help with chart

As I looked at it, I decided that (for me at least) the easiest approach to this chart is a scatter + line combination chart. The scatter chart will plot the values and provide horizontal error bars. The line chart will provide the axis labels. I've observed in this group before that often the hardest part of creating charts in Excel is arranging the data in the spreadsheet, so most of the effort is rearranging the data in the spreadsheet (Be sure to let us know if you are not allowed to rearrange the data or a copy of the data, because this will become much more difficult if you cannot). Here's what I did:

    1) In A18, I enter "2701/2901" and enter 2701 in A19 and 2901 in A20.
    2) In B19, I enter 1 and in B20 I enter 2. These values will be used in the scatter chart portion of the chart to control the horizontal position of the data points.
    3) In C18, enter "USL major". In C19, enter 20.099. In C20 enter 32.216.
    4) In D18, enter "USL DBP". In D19, enter 25.527. In D20, enter 27.649. Continue the pattern into E18:F20.
    5) Select B19:F20 -> insert scatter chart (markers with no lines). Switch row/columns, if Excel chooses "series in rows."
    6) Select the chart area -> Add error bars with default options. Excel will add both horizontal and vertical error bars for each point in each data series.
    7) Select the vertical error bars for each data series and delete/clear.
    8) Bring up the Select Data dialog -> Add data series -> A19:A20 for the x values and B19:B20 for the y values. Dismiss the Select Data dialog.
    9) Select this new series -> Change series chart type -> line.
    10) That should be really close to what you show in the picture. Format chart elements as desired. Adjust the values in B19:B20 if you need to adjust the horizontal position of the groupings.

Does that look close to what you want?
