    Conditional Data Label border

    Hi

Is it possible to only have a data label border when there is data?
I have a dynamic column chart with 2 series, and then a 3rd series as an 'invisible' line chart - so as just to show its data labels a little above the 2nd series.
These data labels I have customised to look at a range of formulas to display % change.

Some data labels are blank however (ie formula result = ""). But they still show the border, which I do not want.

Is there a way around this (I'm guessing vba if anything?)

Any help is most appreciated. Cheers

If you make the data value for those data points =NA() then the data label should not appear.

    Hi Andy
Thanks for this. Not quite what I need though.
Is does 'hide' the data label value, but the border still appears.
    Cheers

did you apply the NA to the data label information or the data point.

    Can you post example file?

    Re: Conditional Data Label border

    Andy,
    Yes I tried in both.
Attached is a very basic example file. I hope it makes sense, for obvious reasons I've had to simplify it massively.

Basically 'Dashboard-No borders' is fine. But I ideally (or my CEO!) wants green or red borders around the % Change data labels.
The way I've built this (using dummy series to custom the positioning of the data labels), means even blank data lebels - the border still shows.

    Thanks for the help...

You need to apply the same test that your data labels use to the actual data point.
