    Question XY Scatter graph issues

    Hi excel gurus,

I am trying to create a scatter graph on excel 2010 and these are the issues I am facing:

    (1) Data labels - For the data labels I can use http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/ChartLabeler.htm however, I don’t have administrative rights on my school's laptop and require an alternative option

    (2) Data layout – I know that I will need helper columns to create the output I am trying to achieve. I am having difficulty creating these helper columns.

    (3) X Axis how do I get the days on the x axis?

I have hand drawn the graphic output (sorry I am not a good drawer) I want to achieve using a sample set of data (both files are attached below).

    your help is appreciated!

Given you x axis is categorical rather than value you can get away with using a line chart.

add a column before and after data and then set axis to cross on Tick marks. "NotUsed" text is a place holder so you can see whats happening.

Andy I was successfully able to create a chart using your example, however, I have one little problem
I have a lot of data points between 12 - 3 AM and it's making the data labels difficult to read.. is there a way to increase the space in the y axis?
you can also refer to the picture to understand my question better. aa.PNG

    Re: XY Scatter graph issues

If you have space at the top and or bottom of the chart then you can expand the data area by changing the Min and Max values of the vertical scale.

    Code for toggling data labels.
