Embedding Graphics into a Chart

I have a chart that has a monthly increasing data timeline. I have flagged certain events with vertical lines and text boxes. I manually adjust these with each chart update. However, when I want to copy and paste the chart into other documents, the graphics never follow. How can I accomplish this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like the graphics are placed over the chart object rather than being imbeded within it.

You can select multiple objects when you copy.
Or move them within the chart. Select the shape, delete it, select the chart object and paste. Postion the shapes as it will probably be pasted top left of chart

That works - and is a pain in the a**! But it works! In Office 2013 I can create data callout balloons, which works, but it is not backwards compatible in Excel.
