How to define chart range based on todays date

I have data sorted by a date range, each day new data is entered and i would like that data to be automatically added to a chart. for example column A has dates 20/10/14 to 20/10/15, and colum B has data points up until todays date
I would like the graph only to show data points up until todays date. I have tried putting the formula =MATCH(TODAY(),A1:A371,0) into cell D1. this then gives the row number of todays date in a cell. then when selecting data in the chart i cannot define the range as B1 : B(=D1). Yes this probably looks stupid, what is the best way to obtain the desired outcome?

If you convert the range that contains your data into a Table, then a chart based on the Table will update as the table expands. See Easy Dynamic Charts Using Lists or Tables.

If you've set up the data so it is prepopulated with a lot of dates, and only has values up to a certain date, you can use defined ranges as the chart series source data, as described in Create a Dynamic Chart.
