    XY Scatter w/envelop

I have created an graph using the XY scatter with lines. I have three data series and would like to have different fills in each one. I am not talking about the data markers, but the actual shape in the graph. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks for you help.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Is it something like this: http://peltiertech.com/fill-under-be...n-excel-chart/

    Re: XY Scatter w/envelop

I could not see how it would work on my problem. My graph has the following:

    5000 -1.5
    5000 2.0
    3500 3.0
    2650 3.0
    2650 -2.5
    3500 -2.5
    5000 -1.5

This gives me a odd shape where I want to change to fill color/pattern of the shape.

Did you understand how Jon's example worked? If I am understanding what you want to do, it seems like it should be a straightforward "fill between two XY series" just like he describes it:

    Separate data into two series:
    2650 3
    3500 3
    5000 2

    2650 -2.5
    3500 -2.5
    5000 -1.5

Then follow the instructions for filling in between those two series.

Does that make sense, or am I completely misunderstanding what you are trying to do here?

I did not understand Jon's example. Although I could probably fill that in and then put lines to enclose the shape. But I am beginning to think this is over my head. Thank you for your input.

    Re: XY Scatter w/envelop

I am trying to understand this method but I am stuck at the place where the secondary horizontal is checked. The graph showing how the secondary horizontal is selected shows the larger numbers on the bottom. But when the secondary horizontal box is checked the larger numbers go to the top. When I try to simulate this procedure, the larger number remain at the bottom. What am I missing?

    Re: XY Scatter w/envelop

By "larger numbers", are you referring to the secondary horizontal axis labels? Assuming that is what you mean, check your setting for the secondary VERTICAL axis, and see if "horizontal axis crosses at" is set to automatic or maximum or something else. I believe Jon's tutorial will assume that this setting is set to "automatic"

You might also check the formatting of the secondary horizontal axis, and make sure the "axis labels" are positioned next to/just above the axis and not somewhere else.
