Adding labels to a scatter chart

Hi

Excel 2013 user

I have 10 different data points, each one has a name i.e. Fred, George...

I want to plot a scatter chart with two properties for each one (i.e. height and weight)

I want each one to have a data label, but this data label must be their name.

I can do it manually but want to learn the quick way.

Any help please?

Quickest way is to use this free addin to link data labels to cells.

If you have excel 2013 this is now a built in option, although viewers with older versions will see [CELLRANGE]

Here are the details of the 2013 option that Andy mentions. In the formatting dialog of the data labels is an option "Value from Cells".

Click the button and select the cells that have the names.

I still use the XY Chart Labeler for some things, though. Positioning of labels is better with that add-in.
