Week Number out of Order on Axis Chart

I have a column in my table that uses =weeknum from another column. It spans over three years. In my chart, the order is correct for the year and month on the axis, but the week number is out of order. I need the numbers to read smallest to largest. Notice the months October and November.

Re: Week Number out of Order on Axis Chart

A lot of charting questions end up being more about the spreadsheet data than about the chart itself. (So, a picture of the chart in a word document is often unhelpful in debugging or making specific suggestions).

A line chart with a category axis like this lists categories along the x axis in the order they appear in the spreadsheet. Such a chart has no sense of "number order" along the x axis. If you want the week numbers to be in a specific order, you will need to sort them in the spreadsheet. When you have them arranged in the desired order in the spreadsheet, the chart axis should follow.

It is sorted by the date, oldest to newest. I also tried to sort by the week number, but it didn't change.

Do you need to have the original dates remain in order, or can you let them move with the weeknum calculation? When you try to sort a calculated field without allowing the source data for that field to also move, you get this kind of "no change" effect.

One solution is to sort the entire table by the weeknum column. Naturally, this will cause the input dates to be out of order, but the weeknum will be in order, which is what you need for you chart.

No, they don't have to be in order. I mentioned in my last post that I also tried to sort by the week number and that didn't work. I don't sort the table by one column, or all of the data will be out of order. It has to be the entire sheet.

Something seems off then. If you sort the entire sheet on the weeknum column, then it should end up sorted on weeknum.

Can you upload a spreadsheet that illustrates your question?

Re: Week Number out of Order on Axis Chart

So, I put together a sheet for you that had sensitive data deleted. Everything worked as it should in the chart so I deleted my original chart and started over with that one(a very simple chart), which seemed to fix it. I guess it was some kind of glitch. We did change the chart quite a few times before. Thanks for your help and I apologize for taking up your time.
