    Multiple Axes Problems

I'm trying to chart 4 sets of data in total, on one chart. I want the following, but I can't figure out how to do it.

    1) Dollars vs Week (1-53) as a line chart
    2) Parts vs Week (1-53) as a line chart
    3) Dollars vs Month (Jan-Dec) as a column
    4) Parts vs Month (Jan-Dec) as a column

I'd like the time on the x-axis, with Months at the bottom and weeks across the top. My issue is that even though I only need 2 x-axes (Months/Weeks) and 2 y-axes (Dollars and Pieces), the way they're combined leaves me at a loss for how to put them together. Does anyone have any insight into how I can do this?

    Re: Multiple Axes Problems

It is hard to give specific suggestions based on a very generic request. A few considerations to help you get started.

    1) How much of this is generic charting (independent of whether we are going to use Excel or some other application for creating the chart) and how much of this is specific to Excel?

    2) Can we assume you understand some of the basic mechanics of creating and formatting charts in Excel (for example: https://support.office.microsoft.com...rs=en-US&ad=US )?

    3) I often find that, when I try to make one single chart do too much, it ends up doing none of it well. Some generic charting questions are often about how much different types of information can I put on a single chart before I start to lose clarity. Along those lines, I often find that, even when I end up combining things into one chart, that I often start the process by creating different charts from the different bits of information. Once I have individual charts that show what I want, I can then start to visualize how they might come together. This is also often useful as far as the mechanics of Excel go, because I frequently create a chart from one of the data series, then add other series to an existing chart.

    4) Many charting questions really end up being about how the data is arranged in the spreadsheet. Do you have flexibility to rearrange data in the spreadsheet? If needed, are you familiar with Excel's database, lookup, and filitering functions and utilities to summarize data from a larger database? Are you familiar with Pivot tables/charts, as these can often be very useful in doing this kind of "database summary" work.

Just some things to consider as you get started on this task.
