Show top 10 values as % of total, including values hidden by filter

    Hey all,

I have a data set in a table which I am summarizing in a pivot. What I'd like to do is see the top ten values from my data set (as defined by their value) and display their values as a % of the value total. I have used the "show values as % of column total" which works great, but as soon as I filter out just the top 10 values then the figures re calculate to be based off of just the displayed values. I'd like the % to calculate off of the entire column, including the ones hidden by the top ten filter.

    See attached for a sample.

Thanks to the Greek alphabet, my 2 year old son's book, and the Economist for coming up with the dummy data!

    Thanks in advance!

if we could define formula in Pivot table in "Shows values as" page or wherever, we could solve this problem easily. i have the same problem too.

    Mehdi Farrokh,
    1. Unfortunately your post does not comply with Rule 2 of our Forum RULES. Do not post a question in the thread of another member -- start your own thread.

If you feel an existing thread is particularly relevant to your need, provide a link to the other thread in your new thread.

Old threads are often only monitored by the original participants. New threads not only open you up to all possible participants again, they typically get faster response, too.

    2. Don't quote whole posts -- it's just clutter. If you are responding to a post out of sequence, limit quoted content to a few relevant lines that makes clear to whom and what you are responding.
