Simple Chart? Staffing Levels over period of time.

    Hello,

I'm horrible with charts and have spent quite a bit of time playing with Excel Chart, searching these forums, and I really haven't gotten anywhere. I have an excel list of the employees we hired over the year. This excel sheet contains their name, title, start date, and end date. I simply want to create a line graph that shows the number of employees we had at any given time over the last 15 years (6 month increments). There are only about 5 job titles and the max we ever had (total employees) have been about 45.

So, there should be 5 separate lines representing each job title. The vertical axis should be the number of employees, and the horizontal should be the years from January 1, 2000, to June 1, 2015 (6 month or so increments).

Attached is some data, but I didn't insert a chart because I'm about clueless with them.
    Thanks

First thing was to make a pivot table of just employee types and then linked it. Next made column headers starting with min of the start date and then incremented it with the formula

through July 1, 2015. I filled in the values with the formula

The graph itself pretty much makes itself when you select to insert a line graph and enlarge it to the point that the dates display on the graph as they do in the chart.

Thanks. That's exactly what I need. Now I need to dissect each part and learn from it. I'm pretty decent with formulas, but pretty weak on charts and pivots.
