One of the easiest ways to establish a trend is to graph the values and have excel calculate the equation of the trend line. Make sure the r2 and the equation are displayed. Once that is done, you can "predict" the values of the forthcoming months

Thanks, but still lost in your advice. Can you bullet-point how I can get such 'trend graphs' appearing first? I only know how to make basic charts via 'insert' tab feature. But this seems very different and dynamic per data changes. Appreciate assistance. Thanks.

Here's Excel's help file for adding and formatting trendlines: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...rs=en-US&ad=US

    Does that help?

    1. You create the graph as you know how.
    2. click the line .
    3. choose "Add a trend line"
    4. select the trend line type. This will generate a line based on the best-fit graph.
    5. check on the display the equation
    6. check on the level of fitness (r2)
    7. This would give you the trend equation
