    Embedding graphs

    Hi there,

I have a number of different spreadsheets containing graphs of various bits of data.

I would like to create another spreadsheet to act as a dashboard for these graphs for management to be able to see this information at a glance.

What I would like is for the graphs in the new dashboard to be exact replicas of the ones in all the separate spreadsheets including x and y axis values.

Currently I have copied the charts using Shift+Paste which seems to work fine for updating the values, but it doesn't seem to update the axis values.
I will be adding in data every month.
If I add in a month to the original graph, this is not reflected in the dashboard graph.

Can anyone enlighten me as to how I can achieve this?

    Thanks

    Re: Embedding graphs

Right-click the graph and select 'Copy Here' (you may have to try clicking different parts of the graph until you get the options of Copy Here and Move Here). A copy of the graph will be placed over the original and slightly offset from it. 'Cut' the copy and paste it into your dashboard. NOTE: Axes will need to be set to Auto for this method to work.

To get around the axis-change limitation, put your dashboard in PowerPoint instead. Copy graph from Excel, then in PowerPoint...
'Paste Special'->'Paste Link'->'Microsoft Office Excel Chart Object'. You can choose to have PowerPoint slides update automatically upon opening of the .pptx file, OR you can have the user update them manually. Make these choices in PowerPoint under File (circle in upper left corner of window) -> Prepare -> Edit Links to Files. Experiment with both update options(Automatic/Manual) to determine which fits your situation best.
