Combine 2 columns + add secondary axis (Excel 2013)

    Hi guys

I'm stuck with this graph problem. I'm trying to combine to columns, or.. I'm trying to put one column inside another column plus adding a secondary axis.
Please find attached my simple excel sheet. I'm using Excel 2013.

I just can't figure out how to solve it. Do I need to programme my own graph in VBA to solve it?

Hope that someone can't help me or lead me in the right direction.

The problem is that charts only have 2 axes. In order to have different column widths you move 1 of the series to the secondary axis, which means you have no
valid scale to plot the percentages on.

You can get around that by calculating values for the line and displaying the percents as data labels showing secondary axis category labels.

Becareful of what values you actual use to plot the line as you could easily mislead the reader.

Yes, in order to have different column widths I did that, Andy. I came to the conclusion that it was impossible to do it otherwise. And, as you point out, now I "miss" a valid scale to plot the percentages.

Your workaround is exactly what I made 10 minutes after posting this - thanks! But I'm no fan. But it can definitely work. You don't know if its possible to make different column widths by making the graph in VBA?

VBA will not allow you to do anything you can not do via UI.

you could use extra columns to give the appearance of wider ones.

you might be able to use area chart with numeric horizontal axis to draw the blocks.
