Compare single data to summary data using pivot table?

Hi,
I have a large excel spreadsheet which tracks results by person and by type of person. I need to be able to provide each person with a report that compares that person's results to the average results for his/her position. I currently have a very clunky set-up using database functions, which gets the job done, but I'm hoping to find a sleeker approach using pivot tables. My data table is set up so that each piece (row) of data is tagged in a variety of ways (i.e. columns with different organizing notes), and I am hoping to be able to use a pivot table to generate a table pulling the data that I need and comparing it in the ways that I need. Pie in the sky, right?!

I am attaching a very simple example of what I need, but there is of course more complexity in the real thing. I have played around with the tables a bunch, but I can't seem to find a way to compare one specific example to the whole. Maybe it's impossible, but many, many thanks to anyone who can help!

Thanks for taking the time to reply! Your example is not quite what I wanted. I need to be able to provide (e.g.) Joan a report on HER results, without thereby sharing the confidential results of Patrick, Roger, and Smith. (Not to mention that there are hundreds of others in the report.)

So, I'm hoping for a table that shows Joan's results, as well as the average results for everyone according to parameters I define in the PivotTable.
