Question Excel Charts Copied into Powerpoint

Hello, I have been tasked with automating (as much as possible) the data gathering and updating process for our market reports.

    The process is as follows:
    Pull data (automatic)
The data is automatically fed into various charts, which then automatically adjust their scalings according to the new data (changing horizontal axis, etc)
These charts are then used in various powerpoints, which are expected to have been updated when the data was updated.

So far, I've been able to paste the charts so that the DATA itself is updated, but it does NOT adjust the axes like I do on the Excel sheets (or, in this case, like is done via macro).

Is there any way that I can make this happen, or are we forever cursed to have to copy and paste the charts in every single time we update the data?

Alternately, is there a workaround or easier method which you have used/discovered to make this happen?

Surely I'm not the only person who's ever wanted to do something like this.....

I don't believe that the axis can be updated in powerpoint. However instead of manually copying charts have you considered using a macro/vba to automate it. So when the data is updated it updates the powerpoint?

This is a thread that covers this: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...nt-slides.html

The problem with that is that the charts (and their location within the powerpoints) may have to be changed depending on the situation, which means you'd have to go in and mess with the macro for all of them (unless I'm wrong in my understanding of how that macro works) each time it is modified.

The chart axes can be modified in Powerpoint, but it does NOT update when the chart in the Excel sheet updates- you have to go in and manually change the axes in PPT to make it consistent with the original.

Thanks for the idea! I'll see if tinkering with some kind of macro is a viable option.

You can use VBA to modify the axis of a chart in PowerPoint

    See here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib.../ff745624.aspx

So you should be able to have the excel macro to update this based of the excel chart axis.

Not sure if it's much help - but I would say it is viable

Try using EzPaste, an Excel add-in for linking professionally Excel and PowerPoint

I found a way- you have to paste the graphs as "Microsoft Office Objects" under the "Paste Special" menu.
