Calculated field not showing when filtered

I have a set of data with the following fields:

School
Program
Term (1 or 2)
ID

I have a pivot that lists School and Program for rows, term for column, and count of ID for values.

I put in a calculated field to sum the difference between term 1 and term 2 (term 1 - term 2)

The calculated field was showing all programs under each school, so I added a value filter of not equal to 0 for the calculated field.

It works, except that if there are no students in a program for a term 1 it does not display. When I take the calculated field filter off it shows as a negative.

Any way around this?

what was your definition for the calculated field?

Literally just ='Term1'-'Term2'.

It calculates correctly, until I put on the filter to hide the extraneous rows. Then if term 1 is null that row disappears as well.
