Overview: I work for a law firm that litigates employment disputes (EEOC complaints and the like). They would like to create a scatter plot that shows the following information:
X-Axis = Count Down to Trial (Origin or far left of graph would be over a year left until trial, right side of graph would be rapidly approaching trial) (Perhaps 2 Years - 1 Month overall X timeline)
Y-Axis = Level of Litigation Preparation Completed (assume for the purposes of this question that there are 3 stages to litigation - Beginning Middle End)
Data Series = Assume that there are 5 Facilities (A - E) for our client. We would like them distinguished by series so it's easy to tell which facility a given data plot stands for. Lets just say there are 3 Cases (1-3) at each of the 5 facilities.
Liability Value = We would PREFER (but lets say it's not necessary) that any case with a liability over (lets say) $1M be indicated by red coloration on the chart (or some other obvious visual indicator).
What I'm thinking is that this could be a Scatter Plot chart, but I have NO clue how to start modeling the data so that Excel can generate a successful scatter plot.
NOTES: Microsoft Excel 2010 My level of skill is intermediate though I'm very capable of following instructions and have worked in the tech industry for some time before switching courses to do legal work.
If you would like me to post my data in a table, I would be happy to - but the data is all made up at this stage, so I'm not tied to any particular data set.
