    Bubble Chart with 2 Series

    Hi All,

I am having trouble getting a bubble chart to display correctly. Here is how my data looks:

    2014 Cost 2014 Share 2015 Cost 2015 Share
    Company 1 100 95% 105 90%
    Company 2 111 4% 112 6%
    Company 3 115 1% 114 4%

So each company should be represented by a different color bubble, 2014 and 2015 are along the x-axis, cost is the y-axis, and share represents bubble size. I am having trouble with setting this up, but mostly getting the x-axis right.

I want to be able to compare year-over-year how cost affects share. Is this possible on one chart?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    AA

Re: Bubble Chart with 2 Series

I don't ever use Bubble charts and had to do some manual work to get it going.

First, you're going to have 3 series Co 1,2,3. In Col A I put the series names, in Col B is the x axis (years), in C is the y axis (Cost) and in D is the size (Share)

Selecting just the data for the first series, I create the bubble chart. Select B7:D8, Insert > Other Chart> choose a bubble chart
Then I fixed the x axis so it didn't show decimals
then I copied B9:D10, select the chart and click on the down arrow underneath Paste on the home tab
Paste Special. > Choose New Series > Okay
    Repeat with B11:D12

You can then go into the chart and add the series names. Hope that helps.

    Alternative data layout.

Select 2 rows of data and then use select data dialog to specify Series name cells.
There is a custom number format on x values to fake horizontal category labels
