    Customizing X-Axis

    Hi Everyone!
I want to customize my X Axis to display the specific dates I have listed in my data table. I have tried changing the bounds and units to get it to align exactly how I want, but I am not having any luck. The data I am presenting is the cumulative hours worked on the 15 and end of each month. I want the data set to start at my beginning date and end at my end date, and only display the dates I am reporting on, not a average. It's really a very simple graph I just don't have a lot of experience with graphs, and for all I know it's just something that's not possible. I have attached a copy of the graph with the data. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So, you want to resize the axis to only show the July 15th and July 31st numbers - just 2 data points?

    Re: Customizing X-Axis

    If I understand you correctly:

(have done these steps in attached file)

    1) Make two named cells for graph_xLow and graph_xHigh

    2) Add validation list for those cells for 'drop-down' selection of available dates

    3) Add the following code to the 'sheet1' code module:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
You now have a graph that will automatically update when the user changes the cells "low" and "high" -

It's not 100% clear what you want in terms of the lines. See if example is what you want.

    Use Line instead of xy-scatter.
    Horizontal axis shows Text categories.
    Format crosses on tick marks.

I have extended the actual hours to use all data points.

    Re: Customizing X-Axis

    Hi!

Thanks for all the help so far, and sorry if I wasn't clear. The blue line in the graph represents the project hours the group will work through the entire contract. The orange dotted line represents only was has been accumulated so far. I wanted the blue line (projected contract hours) to show for the full length of the contract (July-November), but I only want the orange line to show was has been accumulated as this time (so for at this time only July 15 and July 31, since we have not reached August 15 yet). This line will continue to grow on as the work has been performed. We want to see if we are staying on track with the hours projected. I wanted to X Axis to match the reporting times that have been dictated (07/15, 07/31, 08/15, 08/31, 09/15, 09/30, 10/15, 10/31, 11/15, 11/30). I hope this is a little more clear. If anyone has additional questions let me know, and thanks again for all the help!

then just remove the cummulative figures, for the dotted line, for dates that have not yet occurred. As and when you have dates enter them and the line will update and extend
