Historical Data Chart

I'm trying to create a chart that will sum up the data as things are approved based on their approval dates. There should be two columns, pending and approved and they should create a chart like the one in the attached excel file.

With such a small data sample it's not massively easy to fathom exactly what you need.
Two examples in the attached. Hopefully one of them will suit your needs or at the very least point you in the right direction.
