Power View Map - Trouble getting all map locations to show

I am a new user of Power View and am plotting locations of projects (by count) from an Excel table containing city, state, and country columns. I have been successful in plotting many (dozens) of the locations. Some locations that won't show in the Power View map as entered into the excel table. When trying a nearby city or map feature by name I can get some to show on the Power View Map. In some cases, one map entry seems to override or kick out another entry, perhaps too close or something. When opening the data source from Power View, the excel table seems to be properly mapped to the database driving Power View. Don't know what else to try and would appreciate any insight. Thanks.

    Hello,

sorry for the late reply. For the last two days I got errors when trying to open your question.

Could you post a few rows of sample data for places that don't plot correctly on the map in Power View? Just want to check the data. Power View is buggy in places and sometimes does not plot data correctly.

    cheers, teylyn

    teylen,
thanks for the reply. See the attached file with a few example locations that don't plot. I tried deleting most of the records and sending you only a select few, but when I did that, the remaining ones all plotted fine. I may not understand the excel table versus powerpivot data connection...? Thanks much for your help. J

    teylyn,
I'm not sure I was clear. A few problematic locations have been highlighted yellow in the attachment to the previous post. Thanks. J

Re: Power View Map - Trouble getting all map locations to show

    Hello,

it seems that the issue only comes up if you use the vertical multiples to show two areas of the map side by side. I can't find any documentation about this, but it seems that with vertical multiples you can only plot a limited number of data points. What exactly that limit is, I don't know. If you apply filters that reduce the number of data points, you will see that the problematic cities will be plotted.

As a workaround you could instead create two separate maps and place them side by side, and all data points are showing.

    cheers, teylyn
