Hello,
Here are the things that lead up to my problem in Excel 2013.
- I make a scatter plot graph with multiple series
- I hide the markers of one series and toggle line options to graph it with a solid line
- Excel plots this series using a line, but it has 2 colors, both the color I picked + the automatically generated color for a new series (red, blue, green, purple, ect)
[EXAMPLE]: Imagine I choose to plot one of the series within my xy scatter with no markers, solid line with color: Black. What happens? I have a chart with the series rendered in duplicate, resulting in a black line on top of a green line (green being the color excel picks for you).
Here are the things I tried that did not work for me
- Format line options
- Change chart type to combo
These have either irreversibly distorted the x axis, resulted in the x axis edit button becoming grayed-out, or had no effect at all. That has certainly been my experience, but perhaps I've overlooked something so I'm open to methods involving these two methods. If I had to guess though, it seems to be a more systemic issue. Perhaps a line of code has to be changed somewhere.
The solution method doesn't matter to me. Let's brainstorm other ways to get rid of that second, automatically generated color.
