When filtering on Pivotchart to show data for 1 manager (values as %) the line goes flat

    Hi,

I am using a PivotChart to get a distribution line of Personal Development Ratings (1 to 5), to show for each manager, I have 10 managers in total. I do a PivotTable, show values as percentages, I get 10 lines (one for each manager). However, there is just too much going on, too many lines and colours, so you can't see which manager is following a binomial curve of distribution. So I click on the filters and choose one manager and then his line goes flat, whereas previously it was pretty much a binomial curve (take or give a little).
How can I fix this? Many thanks, Leila

    Hi Leila,
Can you send through an example or a snapshot?
Maybe try switching your rows and columns in the pivot table.

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your reply. To better explain the problem, here is an example spreadsheet, tab titled "Sales by Product". Asia, Canada, Europe, South America and United States. This is similar to my problem at work, I tried to replicate using some data I already have at home. When I filter on one country, i.e. Canada only, the Canada line goes flat and the same is the case for all the others. My manager wants to view one line at a time and I thought they stay the same shape.
I only joined yesterday, so I don't know how to send an Excel example or a snapshot. I just tried uploading a JPEG file, but no joy.

Thanks again for your time, Leila

Managed to attach the example. Hope that makes it easier. L

    Hey Leila,

I see your problem... and the work around is a bit of a pain:
    1. Insert a shape
    2. Group the graph with the new shape
    3. Right click on outer border of the group
    4. Choose "Size and properties"
    5. On tab "Properties" tick "Don't move or size with cells", press OK
    6. Ungroup and delete the new shape

Otherwise if you are familiar with macro's then you can use this code...

    Hi Stephen.

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately I failed at the first hurdle and when I inserted a shape and tried to group the graph, the group button was greyed out (disabled), so I could not go any further. I did see the option of "Don't move or size with cells".

What was I doing wrong, do you know?
    Thanks a lot, Leila.

I don't mean button, I mean the group option when I right clicked on the new shape.

    Hi Leila,
You have to select both the graph and the shape at the same time before you can group by holding down the Ctrl button and then selecting both objects.
    For Leila.xlsx
Let me know how you go.
