Help creating chart with data on horizontal lines.

In the attached workbook, column A and B have numerical data. I want to create a chart with the data from column A shown as dots aligned along on a horizontal line, and the data from column B shown as squares (or other symbol) aligned along on a horizontal line just above the column A data. See the attached image for an example.

I see no attempt at a chart in the attached spreadsheet, nor any explanation of how the data in the spreadsheet is supposed to relate to the attached picture. Explain how the data corresponds to the picture, and we should be able to help you put this together.

Sorry my attempts didn't get me anywhere near what I want. The Y-axis is the columns but don't show any label, the X-axis location is the data values. Thank you for helping me.

I still don't see the connection between the chart in your table and the picture. There are 8 values in column B and only 3 "markers" in the picture associated with column B, for example.

That means that this will be either an XY scatter chart or a bar chart. After the chart is created, hiding the axes so that the values are not shown should be easy. The hard part is figuring out what chart type and what data to plot to get the effect you are showing in your picture.

Gut feel is that we are going to start with someting like this (http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/Y_CategoryAxis.html or the Dot Plot variation linked to at the end of this tutorial). The first step in this approach will be determining the X and Y values for each marker for the XY scatter chart.

Yes sorry, the image was just an example, I didn't mean it to match the data. I played around with all the chart types, now I will look at the link you provided. Thanks again for helping me.

I have a solution. I just needed to switch the X and Y axis data. Thanks again for helping me.
