How to get pivot table filter options to update?

    Hi all,

If you open the attached file, don't update the workbook, I didn't attached the linked file. Do look under the "Opponent" column in the pivot table. For the last couple of years, there have been two items: 1 for "New York Jets" and another for "NewYork Jets". I have since combed the data and adjusted the "NewYork Jets" entry to add the space. I can't seem to get the item off of the filtered items however. In the past, I could live with it, but this year, the "St. Louis" item is changing to "Los Angeles", and I feel this issue will need addressing.

Does anyone know how to get items in the pivot table filtering lists to either: Update to be in line with the data, or let me edit the choices so that I can manually remove the ones that no longer exists?

Right click on the pivot table and select PivotTable Options

Go to the Data tab, and under the "Retain items deleted from the data source", change the Number of items to retain per field to "None"

You make I sound so easy, but I can't find a button or way to "mark" as solved at this point. When I created the thread, I noticed that option, but now that functionality has seemingly vanished, or at least has been obfuscated from my view.

Hey, lets all have some fun and laugh at my rudimentary excel forum skills. I feel like I belong in the cyber corner of the classroom with my dunce cap on.

Am I making it really this difficult? I would think it would be an easy thing to do?

I noticed your thread is marked "solved" so guess maybe you found it by accident? Or maybe a forum moderator helped.

Anyway, in case you didn't find it, and for future reference, go to the thread tools at the top of your post and select the solved option on there.

Everyone had to start somewhere with their posts on here and it takes a while to find your way around - I still have to hunt a bit sometimes

You can usually find help in the Forum Rules section if you need it.
