add the function =TODAY() to pivot table

    I've two excel sheets.
1st one is my data entries, 2nd one is my pivot table which is using the 1st sheet as a data source.
There is a column in the 1st sheet titled EntryDate, which includes the date in which this entry belongs.
I want to know how many days since this entry till today, but I want to show the number of days in the 2nd sheet and not in the 1st sheet (in pivot table and not in data entry).
I tried to add a calculation filed in the pivot table using the formula =TODAY() but it did not worked out and resulted an error.
    So how to solve it?
The main point is that I want to know how many days between the date in the EntryDate and the DateToday, and to show the result in the pivot table sheet and not the data entries sheet.
    Thanks

Re: add the function =TODAY() to pivot table

    Hi,

I suggest you make the first data into a table, and then use the Get and Transform function to query the data so you can add a custom column and include that in your pivot table.

But using queries connections will not help adding a formula to the pivot table result.
How to add a function to a pivot table whether directly or through the calculation filed?

You can add calculations in the query without them being present in the original data. A regular pivot table does not have the capability you require for this. Either get and transform or Power Pivot are the simplest option. The former is present in all Excel 2016 versions whereas the latter is not.
