    Pivot Chart from survey data

    Hello!

I'm trying to create a pivot chart using some survey data.

In the survey, individuals responded with some free text stating what they wanted me to work on. I've taken those responses and grouped them under themes, each theme has a separate column. I've then marked next to each respondent whether they mentioned this theme.

I want to create a flexible pivot chart to show how many people mentioned each theme. I also collected personal information; what religion they were, what age group they were part of and what their employment status was.

I would like to be able to display the theme data depending on one of these personal information. i.e 'an age group' graph with different lines for each age group showing how many people said yes to each theme.

I'm having trouble creating the line pivot chart to:
    - Get the x axis to show the theme titles
    - The y axis should be the count of when people responded yes to that theme.
    - There should be a separate line for each Age group or whatever 'personal information question' is set to be displayed.

Please see the attached spreadsheet with example data.

    Thanks! :-)

    Hi,

You need to add each of your themes to the data area and then drag the Values box from the Column area to the Row area. Then you can add Age to the column area for example.

In all honesty I think your data would work better for analysis if you had the theme as a column with multiple rows per respondent.

That's great, I'd tried every other combination of the fields but hadn't tried moving the values box.

The spreadsheet formatting with themes in columns comes from the way that survey monkey exports spreadsheets.

    Thanks.
