    New to Pivot Table

Hello I am relatively new to Pivot tables and am comfortable on how to get a basic one setup, the data that I have is over 3000 rows and 26 columns. The heading are in Row 1 with the remainder running from Row 2. I have managed to get an table with all the data, and another one with the first half of the data i.e. Row1 to Row 1780 which contains al the data for the 1990's. Now I am now trying to get a table of the second half if the data which is from Row 1781 down and contains all the data from the year 2000 onwards.

I keep getting an error when I try to generate an pivot table after selecting the second half of the data that says I do not have any Field headings. I know that these are in Row 1 but cannot figure out how to incorporate the headings the data. I have tried using the control key to select Row 1 then select the additional rows that I want to use.

I have no idea where I am going wrong, I would appreciate any guidance on what I should do next.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Re: New to Pivot Table

    Hi,

You can't have headings separate from the data. You should use all the data and apply a filter to limit the records used by the pivot table.
