    Chart sales over multiple years

    Hello experts

I have a file with sales figures where in row 1 are my table headers (months) and in the following rows are my customers and years (A2=customer name A, B2=2015, B3=2016 and so on).
Is it possible to have one chart for which I can select the customer and show 2015 in a line graph and 2016 in a bar graph?
I've been trying with a pivot table and chart, with slicers, but without good results. Apparantly I always have to enter the customer's name before each year (A3 in this case). This makes the file less clear.

    Dummy file attached.

    All solutions are welcome.

    Thanks
    Chris

So your data should be processed some for a Pivotchart to be easy to manage. Instead of having each month in its own column I would put the month in ONE column then one column of values.

Anyway I provided a sample chart with a drop down and such, then I also provided a pivotchart after processing the data.

    Thanks for your reply.
I noticed that on the 'Processed Chart Data' sheet I wasn't able to select the last customer, so I changed the formula in the name to '=OFFSET(References!$B$2;1;0;COUNTA(References!$B$3:$B$1048576)-0;1)', changing the -1 to -0. I don't know if this the correct way to do it, but I get all customers in the dropdown list now.

Typically I use the COUNTA formula on the entire column and the -1 is to NOT count the header.
Good catch and glad you were able to understand it and adjust it.

Re: Chart sales over multiple years

A small issue I can't resolve: after selecting a customer in the dropdown list on the 'Processed Chart Data' sheet, the chart on the 'Dynamic Chart' sheet updates, which is OK.
But then the dropdown list on the 'Dynamic Chart' sheet is not giving an updated chart when selecting a customer from the dropdown list on this 'Dynamic Chart' sheet.

I've been trying to figure out how you got the original data copied to the 'DATA Processed for Pivot' sheet, but every pasting method I tried failed. What's the trick for this?
As for now I'm not able to update this sheet when entering a new customer or sales in a month.

    Thanks
