Calculated field greyed out after adding data to the data model

    Hi, All -

I have started a basic pivot table but I am checking the "Add this data to the Data Model" box when I created it s I am wanting to use the Distinct Count values setting. I actually want to use a distinct count as part of a calculation field but the calculation field is greyed out due to needing the distinct count setting (sort of a vicious circle).

Does anyone know a way around this?

    Thanks.

    Paul

    Hi,

You need the Power Pivot add-in in order to be able to create measures in the data model.

How can we add the Power-Pivot Add-In?

For Excel 2016 you either have it or you don't, depending on your Office edition. You must have a ProPlus edition or the standalone version of Excel.

Does proplus edition of Excel have it and standalone does not have it?
To check that - do I go to file-options-adding?

No, ProPlus and Standalone are the only versions that have it. If you can't see it in the Add-ins list, you don't have it available.
