Pivot Table - Help with data organization

    UPDATE: Attachment added

I have data that is in this format:

    Owner 1st 2nd third
    ID1 A B C
    ID2 C B A
    ID3 B C A
    ID4 B A C
    ID5 A C B

For ease of understating lets say that each owner is casting a vote for their 1st, 2nd and third choice between options A, B and C. I'd like to sum up the total votes for each option like this

Option Count of 1sts Count of 2nds Count of 3rds
    A 2 1 2
    B 2 2 1
    C 1 2 2

I was hoping to do that with a pivot table but I can't get it to work. Using "count of 1sts" as the row label and values will get that portion of the data but I can't add additional "counts of..." to complete the table. Adding the additional "count of" just duplicates "count of 1sts" like this:

Row Labels Count of 1sts Count of 2nd Count of 3rds
    A 2 2 2
    B 2 2 2
    C 1 1 1
    Grand Total 5 5 5

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll also add that this is my first post on this forum so I apologize in advance if I violated any standard practices in asking questions...

    1. It would help to see the workbook.

You get better help on your question if you add a small excel file, without confidential information.

Please also add manualy the expected result in your file.

    To Attach a File:

    1. Scroll down to the window below your post Additional Options
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

Change the lay out to a verticaly way.

After that make the pivot table.

    See the attached file.

Thanks oeldere. I was afraid you were going to say "reorganize the data." Unfortunately, there are over 1000 unique responses and they got to choose their 1st through 5th options from 11 different choices so reorganizing the data is going to take some time.

My proposal by the addition of Power Query.
Leave the current system data source. Refresh table in the worksheet "data" and PivotTable.
