Spider Diagrams

Good Day

I would like to create a "spider diagram" similar to the attached hand drawn diagram. The attached spreadsheet has a full matrix of all the values between the various zones (which are displayed as numbers in the squares) i.e. between zone 5 and zone 1, 95 persons travel.

It would be good to have the thickness of the line linking the zones to be relative to the value of the link. Can this be done in excel, and if so how?

Have you tried a RADAR chart?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Don't think a radar will cut it due to the categorical nature if the spokes.

Instead use a xy-scatter to draw the lines. In the attached example it plots 1 selected zone at a time. If you extend the current range you can modify the row/col values to plot all arrows at once
but I think the chart would be too cluttered.

You will have to set the xy position of each zone, in the example I used random values.

If you want the lines to vary in thickness you can either use vba code to alter point thickness, but this would need to be run each time the zone changes.
Or you could use multiple series, with formatted line thickness, and revised formula to determine which series any given pair of xy values should appear in.
