Allow use of Slicers on PowerPivot to be used by users without PowerPivot

    Hello,

I've started to become an avid user of PowerPivot for connecting data sets and creating user friendly but powerful pivot charts. The only problem I'm running into is that users that don't have the power pivot add on installed are unable to use the slicers I've setup. I'm not sure if there's a way around this, but if so it'd be extremely helpful.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

as a general rule, functionality that requires a certain feature will not be available if that feature is not active or accessible. So, no, if your users don't have Power Pivot, then the slicers in pivots built on the Power Pivot data model will not work. The slicers directly interact with the data model (for example to re-calculate a filtered measure).

The only way around that is to build a solution that does not involve Power Pivot.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

    cheers, teylyn

Dang, I was afraid that was going to be the case. That makes sense. Time to get everyone to adopt power pivot.
