    Series values changes

    Hi,

I'm currently struggling with a annoying problem. I have a chart where I have specified a NAME (formula shortcut from the Name Manager) as series values in data source. The formula that the NAME points to involve a table. I developed my excel document with an English version of Excel 2013. If I add or remove a row in my table, my chart will keep it's NAME in the data source, all as intended. But when I tried my document at two different Swedish versions (not sure the nationality is the issue or just the version of Excel), my data source will be replaced with the range of the whole table, my NAME is gone that is. Can I somehow protect my chart's data source so that it doesn't change when I modify the rows in my table?

    /Fredrik

    Re: Series values changes

It's difficult to say. Aside from the differences of date formats (dd/mm/yyyy vs, mm/dd/yyyy), I found that there are other differences. I was working with a Dutch programmer. The program worked fine on this side of the pond. However it didn't work for him. The issue was, I was depending on a string with the format "yymm." However in Dutch, "year" is "jaar". So his format had to be "jjmm." I also have problems with some other programs where I'm working in inches and the other person is working in centimeters.

So it may be the national version (or regional settings) that may be the issue rather than the number version of Excel. There might be some setting you can tap into to find out your regional settings and use that to branch to the appropriate piece of code.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
